Well that was fun and challenging!! Try writing and recording a song with a group of kids in under an hour at a music festival with a band playing next door! What a great experience and surprisingly great results.
What else do you write about when you're... 'Hangin' in the Bush'. Thanks to the Skermers and Stephanie Gaffric for organising this wonderful event!

What an adorable performance from our tiny Thespians at Natyadarpan Theatre Company.
Reflecting on an historical Indian legend, this new story was cultivated about friendships, loneliness and how perspective can change so much! Congratulations to the Manningham council on winning the award for cultural diversity following this touching event. I was honoured to be asked to write a song compiled from thousands of welcome messages, sent out to Australian refugees, with love from our local school children. The title of the song is appropriately one of the most prominent messages our kids have for those seeking refuge here at our home... 'Welcome Home Mate!' ![]()
I had the pleasure of penning a song for the Peace Run which I got to perform live along side dancer Sarah Hadley for the closing ceremony in Doncaster.
A big thanks to councillor Dorothy Haines for providing this fabulous opportunity. Another big thank you to Mandar Vaidya and the Natyadarpan Indian Theatre Academy for this huge effort and a fabulously entertaining performance.
This was a lot of fun! Getting to rework the original Cinderella story into couplets, with just a couple of sneaky twists for these tiny seasoned performers to work their magic with. A very big thanks to the Whittlesea council for kicking off our children's group Write On sessions with your all girls 12-16yo youth group.
We all had a great time and the result was an always timely reminder to appreciate the good stuff with a song called 'The Good Life'. Thank you so much for this fabulous feedback- Testimonial "Baseline Youth Services ran a series of workshops during National Youth Week 2016, and approached Roy to help facilitate one, as a consultation for young people asking them “what makes a good life”. Using the ‘Write On’- song writing experience, Roy worked enthusiastically alongside the group of secondary school aged young people using their own experiences and ideas to compile the lyrics and song to ‘The Good Life’. The session quality and level of professionalism was exceptional, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants and staff! Over the two hours, participants displayed an improved level of confidence, as well as personal growth and development. At the end of the session, the group described it as the “best experience" they had this year! The feedback from the youth services team and other departments on the song and lyrics have been extremely positive and we look forward to working with Roy in the near future!" -Youth Worker, Local Government Here's the video of my latest song 'Be' to give you an example of what you can do through my new business "Write on - Song writing experience. I hope you enjoy! When Peter Short, former CEO of Coles Express wanted to get the PM's attention and action on the Dying with Dignity campaign, he reached out to Roy to get his message across. Within 5 days of releasing his Write On song, he received the phone call he was after straight from the Prime Minister himself and was able to commence the conversations that would shortly after bring the campaign back into the senate and make his final battle a victory. Thank you to the Natyadarpan Indian Theatre Academy for doing such an amazing job directing and performing this original stage play of mine called 'Dreams'.
It was an honour to have such talented people bring my work to life. |
